Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive
The domestic renewable heat incentive was launched on 9th April 2014 allowing all UK households to earn up to £3,390 per year for heating their home using renewable technologies.
The tariffs are paid quarterly for 7 years and have been set at a level that reflects the expected cost of renewable heat generation over 20 years.
The payments rise annually in line with the retail price index (RPI). Changes will come into effect on 1 April each year.
The technologies involved in the RHI are:
• Air source heat pumps (7.3p/kWh)
• Biomass boilers and biomass pellet stoves with back burner (12.2p/kWh)
• Ground source heat pumps (18.8p/kWh and )
• Solar water heating (19.2p/kWh)
