Your fuel bills are no doubt the topic of conversation in the household right now so it could be time to check your boilers condition as time is running out.
These are few things you should be aware of, check out if you qualify for a new one and if you do make contact sooner rather than later as the replacement scheme is closing soon.
1) Boiler grants will be available until the Energy Company Obligation closes its doors, which will be on the 31 March 2017.
2) The scheme only applies to non condensing gas boilers, or condensing boilers under 86% efficient. Applications for LPG and oil boiler grants are now being considered.
3) The free boiler scheme is proving very popular. From initial contact to the day of installation the whole process could take up to 3 months, this is dependent on the company carrying out the boiler grant installation.
4) Only homeowners and private tenants can apply. Tenants renting privately will need to get permission from their landlord first.
5) Approximately 2.5 million households could potentially benefit from a boiler grant. Your household could be one of them.
6) Energy providers risk massive fines if they don’t meet carbon emissions targets set by the Government.
