Research has revealed that the majority of property buyers in 2017 are willing to pay more for a low carbon footprint home.
According to the findings 70% of prospective buyers this year want to purchase the most environmentally friendly house they can. The hardest hitting statistic is that 80% said they were willing to pay more for a home with a low carbon footprint.
Of the 3000-people questioned the majority said reducing energy bills was a very high priority on their check list when selecting a home. Most prospective buyers are very concerned about rising energy prices and wanted to do everything in their power to minimise this cost on an ongoing basis. Lower energy bills are now ranked surprisingly more important than location and land space. This simply would not have been the case a few years ago.
The survey showed house buyers wanted to see in the prospective new home:
1} Good roof insulation
2} Central heating boiler less than 5 years old
3} Double glazed windows
4} Draft proof doors
Homeowners need to take energy saving as a very important part of the future if they want to achieve a good sale price for their houses. Making the home more energy efficient doesn’t have to cost a fortune, some measures can even be installed free!
